Our Story

Dera Dore was a long awaited idea during my Master Studies. I finished my Master Economics at the time when Covid-19 struck the entire world. It kept delaying our project for almost two and half years but at the end of 2023, I decided that it's the right time to pursue my long awaited dream i.e. starting my own business. Starting your own business can be quite exciting but “what sort of business” is the most difficult decision that you can ever make. I thought a lot about that and consulted some of my friends that had already been in business. Their expertise, advice and support was very helpful and much needed which encouraged me a lot to move forward in this direction. 

Originally, I came from Pakistan and our country is famous for many products i.e. Sports products, Leather products, Clothing and Surgical equipment etc. Personally, I never thought that the products produced in our country can compete with the rest of the world but after my personal encounter and observation in the EU markets, I was impressed with the products made in our country. This encourages me a lot to pursue my business career one day in the future. Most of the manufacturing jobs from the US and EU are outsourced mostly to Asian countries like China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Pakistan etc. This provides good opportunities for the above mentioned countries to further improve their expertise and efficiency in the manufacturing industries. These countries are labour intensive and handwork is quite cheap and sufficiently available. Further, the labour force in these countries still carry the traditional handmade skill from generation to generation. As handwork is quite expensive in the Western countries, the labour force in these Asian countries has a huge advantage in this regard. 

My first ever encounter with a product made in our country was a leather jacket that I bought during my Master studies in Germany. Personally, I love leather products and these products always catch my attention. Six months after the purchase, I accidentally read the customer information on the leather jacket and it surprised me a lot to find out that it is made in Pakistan. After that I got curious about other products and further found products like footballs and other sports products which were also made in Pakistan. That was the first eye opening moment for me about products made in Pakistan and being sold in foreign countries. These were the observations, reasons and experiences that started compelling me to start my own business in products made in Pakistan. 

The next challenge was, what product should I start my business with? As I love leather products and it is still a luxury product in our day to day life and on the other hand, our country has a huge expertise in this sector, so my decision was not difficult anymore. Therefore, I decided to start with the leather products and we will see where it ends. 

Further, our new project “Dera Dore” will only focus on 100% real leather products. Real leather is also long lasting if taken good care of. Further, real leather is also environmentally friendly and biodegradable if treated and manufactured in the right manner. We strictly avoid using fake leather as they have a short life span and at the same time NOT environmentally and biodegradable. Thus, we would like to encourage our customers to use and prefer REAL leather products rather than the FAKE ones. Nowadays, the market is full of fake leather products which are short lived and at the same time bad for the environment. Further, we are strictly against animal cruelty and we will always adhere to the government rules and regulations in this regard. Further, there is no room for child labour in our business and we strictly avoid such practices. Our manufacturers are registered businesses and they strictly adhere to the rules and regulations in this regard. Our customer can count on us when it comes to ethical standards in the leather industry. Our project “Dera Dore” is all about trust, honesty and openness. We value our customers and we want our customers to experience the best available leather products in the market.
